Rebranding AIDS Vancouver Island to AVI.org

Situation

AVI serves people affected by HIV, HCV, and substance use.

The organization had decided to drop its full name and use only AVI. The new identity needed to reference the five founders of the Aids epidemic of the 80s and new clients facing the opioid crisis. Unlike many branding projects, this project valued and needed the input of all those impacted by the organization’s work including clients (Indigenous and non-Indigenous), volunteers, staff and leadership.

The new identity and descriptor was launched following eight months of in-person and online facilitated sessions to discuss acceptable/inclusive vocabulary, associations, colour and imagery.
