Artist Statement
"Home" is a nebulous construct. It is a roving location defined by wherever I happened to live. Does this concept of home places me in perpetual exile? In "A Migrant's Dream," I want to show how constant displacements could affect a migrant's subconscious, tinting her dreams to reflect deep-rooted anxiety. In the dream, the dreamer's disorientation reaches a climax when she questions her own physical solidarity. Feeling physically alien to oneself is synonymous to feeling not "at home" in one's body – this is possibly the ultimate banishment a person can experience.
