Abstract Diary
Artist Statement
Language has played a significant role in my life. Having lived in six countries, I try to speak and write succinctly in different languages. In many ways, the desire to communicate precisely is reflected in my earlier figurative artworks, where I use representational techniques to convey meanings. "Abstract Diary" is born out of my desire to move beyond the literal. Painting with an abstract language, I deliberately abandon the control of meaning-making. The process is reactive, intuitive, playful, and, undoubtedly, luxurious. Mysterious shapes, bold movements, and the richness of colours and textures are my painting language – a language that liberates me – a language that offers the viewers the freedom of interpretation.
